couldn t create character

I’m experiencing this as well. It’s so odd and random. Took a few tries to make my first character, and eventually it «took.» Played maybe a total of 6 hours without much trouble. Decided I didn’t like the build, so decided to make a new toon.

When trying to make the second character, it just kept saying «please select a character name» over and over again. I thought maybe it was because I was using the same name, so I deleted my first one. Now, I have nothing. And I can’t create anything.

I’ve tried running in admin mode. Nothing. I’ve tried disabling read-only. Nothing. I’ve tried disabling cloud sync. Nothing. I’ve tried re-installing, and manually deleting the Grim Dawn folder in My Games. Nothing. I’ve double checked, tripple checked, and quadruple checked my own access rights. Nothing.

So far, my money has gotten me about 6 hours worth of play, followed by a whole lot of nothing. I’m trying to be civil about this, but it’s quite frustrating to see so many games go through the Early Access period, only to finally be released in an unplayable state on a modern operating system. I’m well aware that Windows 10 is known to have its issues, but love it or hate it, it’s the currently supported standard. This really needs to be kept in mind when developing games in 2016.

I totally get that this game is your baby and all. I really do. And I really want to like it. If you can address this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. Particularly since I’m already past the refund mark. lol

I’m trying to run rake db:create or rake db:setup but I get the following error. It’s strange because rake db:create it’s working fine from others folders with other Rails projects.

This is my database.yml

Posgree is insatelled on /usr/local/var/postgres . Shouldn’t rake try to look it in the same folder instead of /var/pgsql_socket/ ? (I don’t have a /usr/local/var/pgsql_socket anyways)

Solution was simple to update current installed gems.

Another solution to try is set host: localhost or whatever host you use on development settings on database.yml file.

I installed PG on Mac OS X via Homebrew (I didn’t realize it came default in Mac OS X), and had the same problem. I may have made the problem worse by installing the pg gem before installing pg via Homebrew.

I solved this same problem by doing the following:

I bought the game a week ago and now i have just had the time to sit down and play it. Wish i just bought it, it woud’ve saved me £20 ($30) but thats not the point.

Right. My system specs are better than the recommended specs but when ever I am in a cutscene the game stutters with both sound and visuals. I have put the settings to the lowest and its still the same. I also cannot create a new character becasue when I make one I choose my race, class and difficulty. Then when I have finished making my character, in the character creator screen, the cinematics play (where your being chased by the giant spiders up to the woman) and then after those cinematics the game loads to go to when you are in the prison but I never see that cutscene because the game then crashes to the desktop. Please help, I dont want to have wasted £50 ($77) for nothing. Any help would be much appriciated. Thanks
